This Privacy & Cookies Policy (“Policy”) replaces all previous versions. Please read it carefully before using our products and services.

By browsing chatterbate.net, creating an account, or otherwise interacting with us (website, mobile, email, social media, phone, or in person), you agree that your information will be used as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services or provide your information.

  • automatically (cookies, device data, analytics); and

  • from third parties (e.g., KYC providers, payment processors, anti-fraud tools), in line with their privacy notices.

3) Minimum age

The Platform is for adults only (18+ or the age of majority in your location, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

  • Analytics, security, and hosting/CDN partners.

5) Special categories / biometric elements

If you apply to upload/stream, we may process verification imagery and limited biometric-like elements (e.g., face geometry comparisons) only for identity/age checks, through secure third-party providers. We obtain your explicit consent where required by law. You may withdraw consent, but we may retain verification records to comply with legal obligations (e.g., retention periods).

6) How we use your information (purposes & legal bases)

We process your information to:

  • Provide and operate the Platform (contract/performance of services);

  • Create/manage accounts, personalize content, and remember preferences (contract/legitimate interests/consent for non-essential cookies);

  • Verify age/identity of uploaders/performers/studios (legal obligation/legitimate interests/consent where required);

  • Process payments/tokens via approved processors (contract/legitimate interests);

  • Moderate, secure, and prevent fraud/abuse, including child-safety reporting (legal obligation/legitimate interests/public interest);

  • Comply with law, tax/reporting, and respond to lawful requests (legal obligation);

  • Improve the Platform, fix bugs, run analytics and A/B tests (legitimate interests/consent where required);

  • Communicate service updates, security alerts, and,if you opt in,marketing (contract/legitimate interests/consent).

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are Art. 6(1)(b) (contract), 6(1)(c) (legal obligation), 6(1)(f) (legitimate interests), and 6(1)(a) (consent) for specific activities (e.g., certain cookies/biometric checks/marketing).

7) Payments & tokens

Payments are handled by approved third-party processors. We do not store full card details on our servers. Token purchases and balances are managed in your account; see our Terms for refund and token rules.

8) Two-factor authentication (2FA)

If you enable 2FA (e.g., SMS/app), your phone number or app token will be used to secure login. When SMS-based 2FA is used, the telecom/2FA provider processes your number under its own policy.

9) Content assurance & moderation

All user content (live, recorded, images, chat) may be checked by automated tools and human moderators to enforce our Terms (e.g., remove illegal or unsafe content, verify age where required, prevent child exploitation). For creators who do not show their face, we may occasionally request a selfie/live check to confirm adulthood.

10) Public information & off-platform sharing

Public areas (profiles, chat, room titles, streams) are public. Anything you share there can be seen, copied, or recorded by others. Use caution with personal information. We generally cannot assist with disputes arising from off-platform interactions.

11) Location features

We may use your approximate location (e.g., by IP) to enforce geo-blocking or to help creators filter access by region.

12) Cookies & similar technologies

We use cookies, SDKs, pixels, and device IDs to run and improve the Platform.

Categories we use

  1. Strictly necessary , core functions (security, session, load balancing).

  2. Preferences , remember language/region/UI choices.

  3. Analytics , understand usage to improve features.

  4. Advertising/measurement , show or measure relevant promotions (where applicable).

  • Service providers (hosting/CDN, anti-fraud, KYC, analytics, support, email/SMS, payment processors) under data-processing agreements;

  • Successors in case of merger, acquisition, or reorganization.

We do not sell personal information.

14) Data security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (e.g., encryption, access controls, logging) to protect data. No online service is 100% secure,keep your credentials private and enable 2FA.

15) International transfers

Your data may be processed outside your country (including outside the EEA/UK). When we transfer personal data internationally, we use lawful safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions).

16) Retention & deletion

We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above and to meet legal/regulatory requirements (e.g., age-verification/record-keeping rules may require multi-year retention).
When you request deletion, we will delete or anonymize data subject to legal holds and safety/fraud prevention needs. Usernames and minimal audit records may be retained to prevent impersonation/ban evasion. Deleting an account does not remove content already licensed to other users.

You can request deletion or access using [link to self-service tool] or by emailing [email protected].

19) Third-party links & logins

Links to other sites/apps are provided for convenience; their privacy practices apply, not ours. If you use third-party login (e.g., Apple/Google), we receive the limited data those services share under their policies.

20) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. The most current version will be posted at https://www.chatterbate.net/privacy with the date at the top. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
